University of Stirling GREAT Scholarship for Malaysian Students in UK

The GREAT Scholarship Malaysia will be awarded to Malaysian students who wish to pursue a master’s degree in the United Kingdom as part of a joint initiative between the British Council and the University of Stirling. The scholarship is available for the 2023–2024 academic year. The scholarship is only for Malaysian master’s degree students enrolled in the University of Stirling’s LLM International Energy and Environmental Law program. To be considered for the $10,000 scholarship, interested students must be full-time students based on the Stirling campus.

This scholarship scheme is part of the GREAT Scholarships campaign, which has been launched by the British Council together with UK universities to support more students in Malaysia to get access to excellent UK higher education opportunities.

The total value of the scholarship scheme is nearly £1 million. This scholarship scheme will offer an exciting opportunity for Malaysian students wishing to get financial support to pursue study at degree levels in the UK. Students can apply for courses in subjects including engineering, law, business, art and design, biosciences, IT, and more, at institutions across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:
The applicants must be classed as overseas for tuition fee purposes.
The applicants must be Malaysian nationals.
The applicants must have received a conditional or unconditional offer of a place on the full-time LLM International Energy and Environmental Law at the University of Stirling.

Admission Requirements: The applicants must have the equivalent of an upper second-class UK undergraduate degree (2:1).
Language Requirement: The students must submit scores of the following English language proficiency tests:

Cambridge C1 Advanced (CAE) – 169
Cambridge C2 Proficiency (CPE) – 180
Pearson Test of English (Academic) – 60
IBT TOEFL Special Home Edition Test – 78
Trinity ISE II Pass overall with a Pass in each sub-skill, ISE III Pass overall and in all sub-skills, ISE IV Pass overall and in all sub-skills
Aptis (4 skills) CEFR B2 overall and B2 in all sub-skills
Language Cert International ESOL B2 Communicator – High Pass overall with minimum 25 in each sub-skill

The University of Stirling has six GREAT Scholarships, each worth £10,000 available for the 2023-24 academic year.

Two scholarships are for any taught master’s program for students from the following countries:

China (one scholarship)
Mexico (one scholarship)

Three scholarships are for master’s programs related to justice and law, in the following countries:

Indonesia (one scholarship)
Malaysia (one scholarship)
Turkey (one scholarship)

One scholarship is for a master’s program related to climate change for a student from:

Vietnam (one scholarship)

The University of Stirling will award the selected Malaysian students a scholarship award amount of £10,000.
